As a Scout leader, I found this very useful to not only use a Camping Checklist for my own planning purposes in scout, but also as a helpful guide to handover to the boys. It is very easy to create a this in Excel, so if you want a these templates will give you a good head over start. If you just want to print a generic checklist to use as a guide, you can download this template.
Camping Packing List
This Camping Checklist template is one that is created to hand out to Scouts preparing for a campout. I will usually make modifications to the list based on the specifics of the camping trip before handing it over to the boys. There is absolutely nothing fancy about this particular spreadsheet. The check boxes are created using cell borders or brackets. It is very easy to customize the checklist.
Besides the normal camping essentials, the items you may need will largely depend on the weather, your planned activities, your menu, and the duration of the trip.
Things to Add to Your Camping Trip Checklist
If you are creating a checklist for Scout troop or some other group, besides just a list of equipment or stuff to bring, you may also consider including the following:
- A To Do List section for listing assignments or actions that must be taken prior to the trip.
- A section for Items to NOT Bring during camping
- A section for Important Reminders for camping
- A Food Ideas section if each person is responsible to bring their own food that are cooked easily.
These camping checklist are useful in the following:
- REI camping checklist
- Car camping checklist
- Summer camp checklist
- Sleeping bags at night.
